Fifteen
years ago in our family's Central California make-up and skin care
salons, our customers asked if we offered waxing services.
We said, Sure! jumped in the car and drove down to the local beauty
supply store to buy some wax. If we hurried, we thought, we could be in
the hair removal business by that afternoon.
We thought wrong.
Our
cosmetologists and estheticians hated every single product we brought
to them. They told us it was either too sticky or too messy or too
painful for the client. I couldn't believe how particular they were
being and thought they were too sensitive. So I tried several for
myself.
Guess what. They were right. They all hurt like heck. I still have a scar below my brow from the last one I tried, where the skin pulled right off with the awful material strip. We were convinced (especially me!) that there had to be a better way.
So, my
Dad had a chemistry background and he went to work developing his own
was on Mom's kitchen stove. I still have pictures of Dad
with all of his failed but getting closer was formulas taped to the
refrigerator. Mom was very patient with us. Good thing Dad had a lot of
hair on his legs for the important
testing phase of our company's research and development.
After two years of R&D, Dad had created a wonderful wax!
Suddenly
it seemed we were selling our wax to salons nationwide. During the
Pre-Web years, word-of-mouth built our company. Now, the happy
continuation of this story is that you are reading this on our website!
It's people just like you who found us and wanted to buy our products.
Thank you! I hope you love WickiWax as much as I do! We want to know
you for many years to come!
Love, Vicki Jane
